Lanark and District Archaeological Society

About this Organisation

The Society's aims are to promote an interest in the archaeology and local history of Clydesdale. The main activities of our Society are lectures, fieldwalking, promotion of an interest in local history and archaeology through our website, Clydesdale's Heritage, as well as through a Facebook site and finally trips to places of historical interest. We have a library of books, an archive of photographs and slides, books of items relating to the different villages as well as boxed finds relating to many of the communities. Another activity is to ensure that the Heritage of Lanark and the rest of Clydesdale is preserved for future generations. Finally the Society is active in the realm of publishing books - currently working on two new books - the Falls of Clyde and a Compendium of Clydesdale's Curiosities.
