SCWS Oral History Project

About

The Scottish Working People’s History Trust is looking for people who have worked for the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society (SCWS) at Glasgow and Shieldhall and would like to share their experiences. The objectives of the Trust is to record personal recollections of work experiences, preserve them for posterity and make them available to social historians as well as the public. The Trust has already been recording the memories of a number of SCWS employees that worked in the co-operative movement's Retail Societies and shops at the East Coast of Scotland. This project aims to complement that collection by recording the memories of people that worked in the wholesale and manufacturing wing of the movement, in the SCWS’s head office at Morrison Street and in their factories at Shieldhall, Glasgow.

People interested in sharing their work experiences in an oral history interview, please e-mail julia.bohlmann@yahoo.co.uk or phone/text 07810 197762.
