Carmyllie Heritage Society
About this Organisation
Carmyllie Heritage Society was established in 2009 with the aim of publicising research and records within the Parish of Carmyllie between 1850 and 1970.
What transformed was an absorbing collection of information categorised into Churches, farming, quarry industry, railway, schools and after work activities, obtained from research, interviews and conversations.
The publication: Carmyllie Its Land and People was launched successfully in December 2013. With the profits the Heritage Society decided to enhance the community, for example, a cairn has been built with four plaques displaying Carmyllie's history alongside the community hall, finishing off with a stone seating area, adjacent to the cairn. In addition, Carmyllie Heritage launched a Walking Trail in March 2017, a distance of three miles, with a leaflet detailing local history along the walk. At present the Heritage Society is in the process of organising a display of enlarged heritage images and maps in the vestibule of the Community hall.
Carmyllie Heritage hold three indoor meetings and two summer outings per year.
