Ayr Choral Union: A Choral Legacy
When & Where
Event Details
An Exhibition celebrating 150 years of Music Making in Ayrshire (1876 - to the present day).
Ayr Choral Union will be 150 years old this year, making us one of the oldest Choral Societies in Scotland. We have a huge archive of material outlining our history during this period thanks to archivists, local press, The "Keepers of the Box", and continuity of activity through two World Wars and Ayr Town Hall burning down in 1897.
We want to share the fascinating social history of the choir with you. So come along and visit our exhibition at The McLaurin Gallery , Rozelle Park Ayr from 8th November 2026 to mid January 2027.

We have some great memorabilia and photographs to share. You might even recognise people you know! The Exhibition is part of a year of celebrating Choral Music from the Choir, their friends (including our Patron, Sir James MacMillan), and the Ayrshire musical community. We have been very fortunate to have support from South Ayrshire Council Staff to make the Exhibition happen.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm Sunday 12 noon – 5pm
