John Bell of Antermony wrote a ground-breaking travel book about his adventures, mixed with Scottish Jacobites in Russian exile, acted as a British diplomat in St Petersburg and eventually retired to live a quiet life on his Stirlingshire estate.
David McVey looks at his life, his travels, his book, the documents he has left behind and, finally, at his leading role in introducing rhubarb to Britain.
