Dunbar and District History Society
About
The aim of the Society is to record as many aspects of Dunbar’s long history as possible and the Society welcomes donations (e.g. photographs) from the public. We also aim to encourage historical research in relation to the town and its surrounding areas – from pre-history up to the present day. The Society is based in Dunbar Town House and holds a large collection of resources including books, pamphlets, photographs, videos and audio recordings relating to the history of Dunbar. The Society is a registered publisher and has published three very successful books: The Whales at Thorntonloch in 1950 by Dr James Herring; Dunbar in the 1950s by Dr James Herring and A Walk Around Historic Dunbar by Stephen Bunyan. All profits from the books go to the Society and none to the authors who are Society members. A series of talks are held in the Town House from September to March each year and are available at https://dunbarhistory.org.uk/ To contact the Society, please email ddhs_townhouse@hotmail.co.uk or telephone 01368 863734.
