The deadly rivalry between Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots is well known, but this turbulent period of history also produced a third powerful queen: Catherine de Medici - a formidable woman whose children went on to shape the dynasties of Europe.

In this talk, Dr Estelle Paranque will discuss the rivalry between the three queens and explain why Catherine’s true role as a potential rival to Elizabeth I has been overlooked.

Join us for an intriguing look at 16th-century power struggles in the royal courts of Europe.

Dr Estelle Paranque will present a c.45-minute online talk, followed by 30 minutes of questions from the audience. THE TALK WILL BE RECORDED, SO DON'T WORRY IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE TIME, SIMPLY REGISTER AND WE'LL SEND YOU THE RECORDING THE FOLLOWING DAY, VALID FOR 7 DAYS.
