Bonnie Prince Charlie at War
When & Where
Event Details
Evening lecture by Dr Arran Paul Johnston.
The last Jacobite Rising of 1745-6 is one of Scotland's most famous historical episodes, and its commander one of its most iconic and controversial characters. But setting aside both the romanticism and the propaganda, how should we judge the military performance of Charles Edward Stuart? This talk, looking at the Prince's role in the campaigns of Prestonpans, Falkirk and Culloden, aims to provide a fresh look at the Jacobite leader's performance as a military leader. Places must be booked by emailing learningatbannockburn@nts.org.uk or phoning 01786 812664. Donations can be paid in cash or card on the night of the event.
