Nazarene Archives
About this Organisation
The Nazarene Archives is a repository of records related to the Church of the Nazarene, a global Wesleyan denomination of 2.5 million members. Nazarene Archives holds records representing congregations and districts in over 160 nations, including the United Kingdom. Nazarene origins in the U.K. began with the founding of Parkhead Pentecostal Church in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1906 under Rev. George Sharpe's leadership. In 1909, Parkhead and other similar congregations formed the Pentecostal Church of Scotland. In 1915, the Pentecostal Church of Scotland merged with the Church of the Nazarene, becoming the latter's first presence in Europe. The Church of the Nazarene is a member denomination of the World Methodist Council and the European Methodist Council. Its university-level school in the U.K. is Nazarene Theological College-Manchester, which also maintains records that pertain to Scotland's religious life.
