Living Memory Association
About this Organisation
We are a voluntary organisation and use reminiscence work to bring people together to share their memories and preserve them for future generations.
We present the material collected in a variety of ways including books, exhibitions, drama, artwork and websites. We bring different generations together to learn from each other and use reminiscence to help combat loneliness and isolation amongst older people.
We run a reminiscence centre in Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre in Edinburgh where everyone is welcome. We offer training in reminiscence skills to organisations, community groups, care homes and anyone interested in working with older people. We also offer training in oral history recording and interviewing.
We work in partnership with a number of organisations across Edinburgh and the Lothians, including voluntary sector, social care, health care, schools and colleges and the City of Edinburgh Council's Museums and Libraries on a variety of projects.
