The Trimontium Trust
About this Organisation
The Trimontium Trust manages the only museum in Scotland dedicated to the Romans and to the Iron Age population that they encountered when they invaded Caledonia around 80 AD. We have been telling the story of the Roman settlement for almost thirty years.
The Roman site itself is close to Melrose, in the Scottish Borders, and was occupied from the 1st to the 3rd centuries, long after the Antonine Wall was abandoned.
The Trimontium Museum (to be extended and reinterpreted during 2020) is in Melrose, currently open from April - October, and holds many objects and much information. The Museum also runs a programme of school visits, organises guided weekly walks to the site during the Museum opening season (twice weekly in July and August), and holds two series of lectures, open to all, each year.
