NHS Grampian Archives

About this Organisation

NHS Grampian Archives holds the records of more than 100 hospitals and health organisations covering the North East of Scotland.

The records date back to the 1730s with the founding of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The collection for the Infirmary is one of the most complete for a hospital, with surviving patient registers and case notes from the 18th Century.

The records show the development of healthcare across the Grampian area, both before and after the creation of the National Health Service in 1948.
