Interested in the History of New Monkland Parish in Airdrie, Lanarkshire?

This One Place Study came about following a University Dissertation on some of the more prominent members of the community. Further research on the area would follow before the One Place Study came to be.

One of the first projects undertaken was to index & photograph all of the Gravestones at New Monkland Churchyard. A Mammoth task which resulted in a list of 5300 names.

Future projects involve the indexing of many of the local businesses, world war commemoration lists, researching a historic murder case & dipping more into some of the amazing individuals within the parish.

Our website displays a range of old postcards showing the town through time.

We welcome contribututions such as images, copies of family trees, ancestors, documents etc.

The one place study project also runs a Private Facebook group where those interested in the area can discuss their own research interests.
