Jim Hamilton Heritage Society of Coalburn

About this Organisation

The organisation was formed in 2004 thanks to the work done by the late James Hamilton who over a period of over 30 years collected artifacts about Coalburn and the surrounding area.

He produced 80 booklets about the village and also several relating to the surrounding villages. In addition he built up a substantial collection of photos relating to the district.

Although he lived in Hamilton he made it known that his collection should be held in his birthplace, Coalburn. He died in April 2004 and his widow, Maureen made arrangements for his wish to be carried and a public meeting was held in Coalburn in July of that year and officials were appointed.
