Hawick Archaeological Society
About this Organisation
Hawick Archaeological Society is a charitable organisation (registered in Scotland, No. SC016405) which exists to preserve and celebrate the history, achievements, culture, and customs of the town of Hawick, Scotland, and the surrounding Scottish Borders region.
The "Airchie Oliver" as it is fondly known, also supports the local museum (which the Society originally founded). We also carry out occasional archaeological works and maintain relevant local sites. Our winter series of lectures on local history runs from September to March, and an evening excursion is held during the summer to visit notable buildings and places. The Society also publishes books and annual 'Transactions', which contains all manner of articles and reports related to local history plus ongoing projects involving our members. Lectures are held at the Hawick High School (address below).
To become a member of our Society or to find out more about us, please contact the Society's Honorary Secretary, Alastair Redpath, via email: aliredpath@hotmail.com.
