Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland
About this Organisation
The Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to the protection, preservation, study and appreciation of Scotland’s historic buildings. The Society was founded in 1956 to fight the destruction of George Square under the name ‘The Georgian Group of Edinburgh’. Since then, the AHSS has grown to become a national charity. We have around 1000 members throughout Scotland and beyond, with several regional groups organising local activities and carrying out casework.
We promote the study of Scottish architecture through lecture series, conferences and visits to buildings and sites of special interest and we protect our irreplaceable built heritage through our campaigns and our casework.
