Originally built as a Free Church in 1863, it became part of the Church of Scotland in 1929. The attractive community garden was designed with the assistance of the BBC Beechgrove Garden television programme. In October 2018, Weisdale Kirk was one of twenty churches in Shetland owned by the Church of Scotland that were earmarked for closure. It was offered for sale in November 2020 and has become a private dwelling.
