Event Details

Programme of speakers including:

Registration from 9am

10am - Frances Wilkins: The Smuggling Coast from Stranraer to Girvan

11am - Tom Barclay 'Ayrshire before History; a personal view of early sites and their archaeology

Break for lunch

2pm - Chris Whatley 'Men at War; securing Burns' memory in the West of Scotland c.1859 - c.1896 (the race between the towns of the region to have a statue to Robert Burns).

3pm - Thomas Rees 'A founders workshop from the Bronze Age? Excavations from the shadow of Hunterston'.

Please note that tickets for individual talks, priced £3.00 each or £2.50 for 2 or more will be available from Troon Library and the Carnegie Library, Ayr and will also be available to purchase on the day.

There will also be a large range of stalls available from 9.00am until 4.30pm. These will include: Family History Societies, Local and National History Organisations and professional and commercial businesses. There will also be a specialist Scottish Bookshop present. Admission to the stalls is free.

Charges for stalls are: £10 for societies and organisations; £20 for commercial stalls. Stallholders will be allowed free admission to talks during the day. Coffee, tea and snacks will also be provided in the kitchen for a small donation.
