Event Details

Outline itinerary is as follows:

10:45 - 11:00: Meet at Scottish Canals' HQ at Applecross Street.
On-street parking available, otherwise a bus passes the end of Applecross St; then a short walk to the venue.

11:00 - 12:00: Depart on the ‘Gipsy Princess’ (Forth & Clyde Canal Society boat) to cruise to Maryhill, with commentary en route on historic canal-side industries etc.

12:00 – 13:00: Lunch at The White House, an historic pub at the Maryhill top lock that has been taken over and is being refurbished by a cycling charity.
Lunch of soup & sandwich; tea / coffee; fruit or cake is included in the price. During lunch there will be a 20-30 min talk on historical industry and activities at the Maryhill flight of locks.

13:00 - 14:00: Walk and talk to explore the locks and/or the aqueduct.

14:00 - 15:00: Cruise back to Canals' HQ at Applecross St.

15:00 – 15:45 Walk & Talk around Canals HQ on the sculptures of the Forth & Clyde Canal Reservoirs.

Participants should have suitable footwear, and be able to walk short distances and board the boats.
