Bothwell Historical Society

About this Organisation

The society aims to promote interest in the history of Scotland and Bothwell's history in particular.

The society is still a young one having been established initially in 2011 to provide an exhibition of local history during the village's scarecrow festival.

Bothwell has a long and interesting history including our Parish Church, our castle and how the village has developed over the centuries. The village has seen agriculture, weaving and coal mining all come and go but today it is mostly a residential locale.

We usually host four winter talks in the village hall and publish three newsletters, spring, summer and autumn.
